Clothing and embroidery floss 28 1/2 x 24 1/2 inches All clothing used to construct this quilt was my own old clothing. My childhood home in New Delhi had a row of Ashoka trees in the front yard. The shade of the Ashoka trees was a safe space for me growing up and the texture of the leaves is still vivid in my memory. Along with the demolition of that house, the trees were taken down as well, leaving me with a sense of loss and yearning for that place. This artwork memorializes my relationship with that landscape.
